About 83 Freight

A unique, sustainable residential community offering flexible housing in Nashville’s trendy Wedgewood Houston (WeHo) neighborhood.

We formed our name from a simple concept: Our facility is crafted from 173 upcycled freight shipping containers that we meticulously assembled to construct 83 individual residences, creating an affordable, modern and sustainable community for individuals — like you — to work, play and live in Nashville’s growing scene.

And that’s the way we like to keep things: Simple. That’s why we offer some fully-furnished residences, private surface off-street parking, and many more amenities, focused on convenience and allowing you to tap into Nashville’s live rhythm. And we’re pet-friendly, so your furry family is welcome here too.

From the resourceful floor plan designs to the eco-friendly materials and appliances, each residence has been skillfully constructed to promote sustainability and overall efficiency, so you can make the most of your money and your space.

We Take Sustainable Living Seriously.

From the materials we use to our efficient floor plans, we take every provision to make the most of our resources at 83 Freight.

We started with a pier foundation, driving metal support rods up to 80 feet deep into foundational bedrock. Next, we assembled 173 greenlighted industrial freight containers into three structures, crafting a modern-age, residential community with a rustic exterior and cantilever elements to match the industrial style of the Wedgewood Houston neighborhood. When you look beyond our inspired exterior, you’ll glean an appreciation for the simplistic beauty of each apartment’s functionality and design. We wanted to pay homage to the history of the neighborhood that used to be full of creators - mostly welders and industrial workers - using the unique, sustainable design.

If you’re wondering how a metal shipping container made from corten steel will stand against Nashville’s weather, we’ve got it covered. We installed energy-efficient Pella Floor-to-Ceiling Windows and Mitsubishi heating and cooling units in each residence to save you money on utilities. Each unit also has closed cell insulation, so you can heat and cool your home with consistency and ease.

But our priority of sustainable living doesn’t stop there. That’s why we offer on-site recycling and community greenspaces, all while promoting sustainable transportation methods. Contact us today to discover how your housing can help you leave a smaller footprint without sacrificing comfort or style.
